The first Eight months of Themeflash.com have been great but it’s time to step it up into current trend. If you’ve been following or not following Themeflash lately, you’ll notice that everything looks new at this blog! Times have come to changed site and the site was in desperate need of a redesign in order to grow and improve in content and design. Although saying that, I wanted to carry over the fundamentals from the previous design including keeping a minimalistic appearance to keep the focus on the content.

Hopefully this new design conveys a sense of higher quality, something that I have been trying to do with my designing for the last couple of months.

Here are some of the improvements and additions that I’ve made to help make you time here, not only more usable but more enjoyable.

Does Themeflash needs more changes?

Some of the Visible things that came to my notice on the ThemeFlash Page as areas that we improve upon are the following:

Navigation

TF_Navigation

For a website with a featuring content from different topics, navigation is a primary. The idea of navigation should be ease for the user and at the same time navigation menu please the vision of the users. The key here is usability with pleasing redesign. The present design of Themeflash Navigation Bar displays categories that difficult to read.

A better way could be to use children menu for the navigation. The reason for this is same let us assume that the user wants to find a Inspiration Design of progress trackers on Themeflash. The first thing he would do is see if it is possible to find it from the navigation. The nearest thing that would come in his mind he would be able to find Inspiration category. He would move his mouse over to Inspiration category to click the link that reads article.

Search Bar on ThemeFlash can be made larger and easy so that users can search what he was looking for using it all the time. Again I would suggest the use Big Search Button instead of the Magnifying glass icon.

Optimization

ThemeFlash homepage above the fold effectively displays Content (Articles) in approximately 70% area totally changed , the rest used for Image, Excerpt content and advertisements same. We could go on to realign the elements above the fold to create a better experience for the user as well as a better ad space optimization for ThemeFlash at the same time. More about that in the final design process.

Community Feed

Community Feed is the important part blog because the user need to submit his or her content to showcase on other blog.So here is the improve community feed for user to submit content to display content on ThemFlash.

ThemeFlash Re-design Process Explained

Before I explain to show you the elements in the redesign of Themeflash, let me try to explain how I went about it.

1) The first step was understanding the main issues and areas that could be improved upon.

2) The next step was to understand the elements that are important for ThemeFlash to display on the homepage. The elements in the current homepage were mapped and the basic chart studied.

3) The next step was to make a 16 grid base of the current design so that we don’t need making too big changes in the redesign and thereby confuse the users or readers. An important idea of web design is that if the problems can be solved by realigning, then do not bother to redesign.

With these basics ready for us, It’s time to begin redesigning. After a lot of trial and error, I came up with a design that I found to satisfy the various problems that we had identified earlier. In the next section I present to you the redesigned ThemeFlash homepage. I leave it upto to the readers of this articles to analyze the changes and mention the same in the comments.

We can see that with a little bit of attention to detail and creativity, the redesign process comes up with a design that is strikingly similar to the previous one but at the same time all the better. I hope you appreciate the new design as much as I do.

Feel free to let me know if you liked the design or not. Also if you have any queries, do give out a shout in the comments.

I love the header-region, but what about the grey gardient in your sidebar? Is it a shadow?
